Align, sequence and randomize
Mover is a simple tool for Adobe After Effects that allows you to align, sequence and randomize either layers and keyframes.
Download Mover
Yes, Mover it’s 100% Free.
Installation
Follow these steps:
- Download the Adobe ZXP installer from aescripts.com.
- Launch the installer.
- Drag and drop Mover.zxp onto it.
- Restart After Effects. Mover will appear under Window > Extensions.
Modes
First of all, choose whether to move Layers or Keyframes:
If you choose Layers, indicate whether you want to move them in groups of n layers, by colors, or by parents. On the other hand, if you choose Keyframes, specify whether you want to move them in groups of n properties/rows or by layers. We’ll see in a second what it all means.
By default, the second icon displays the number ‘1’, indicating that the default behavior is to move layers or keyframes in groups of 1 (1 layer or 1 property/row, respectively). You can right-click on the icon itself to select a different number:
Functions
Align layers
Align layers in groups: first, let’s align them in groups of 1 element, and then in groups of 3 elements:
Align layers by colors: all layers with the same label color and that are next to each other will move together.
Align layers by parents: given a selected group of layers, this function initially identifies all the layers that are not parented to any other selected layer; they are the ‘parents’. The remaining selected layers are considered ‘childs’. The parents move, the childs will follow.
Align keyframes
Align keyframes in groups: in the examples below, keyframes are aligned in groups of 1 property/row and in groups of 2 properties/rows respectively.
Align keyframes by layers: all selected keyframes from a layer will move as a single element.
Sequence layers
Sequence layers in groups of n elements:
Sequence layers by colors: all layers with the same label color and that are next to each other will move together.
Sequence layers by parents: given a selected group of layers, this function initially identifies all the layers that are not parented to any other selected layer; they are the ‘parents’. The remaining selected layers are considered ‘childs’. The parents move, the childs will follow.
Sequence keyframes
Sequence kayframes in groups of n elements:
Sequence keyframes by layers: all selected keyframes from a layer will move as a single element.
Randomize layers and keyframes
The Randomize function follows the same logic as seen so far. You need to specify a ‘range of action,’ expressed in frames, within which any group of layers or keyframes will be randomly moved.
